“The Never-Ending House” by K.S. Fause

Based on the true story of the Winchester House built in 1884 in San Jose, California, this short work tells the story of the construction of a sprawling mansion that was commissioned by multimillionaire Sarah Winchester in 1884. The now eighty-year-old Sarah tells her niece that spirits from the Civil War demanded her to build a house to accommodate the numerous families who had been killed by rifles made famous by her husband William. Unfortunately for Sarah, the relentless, over-demanding spirits had left her no choice but to build one of the largest and unpredictable houses ever made with thousands of doors that opened to nothing but walls and forty-seven staircases leading to nowhere.
